Letter to my new born son!!

Hi Dhanvee,

Im ur Father, Anantha Krishna, U dont know who I am, but u were just born today (actually 3rd July 2010 but i dont know what date i will get the guts to publish this blog).
Im very happy about ur birth, but ur mom had to go through a lot of pain and a surgery as well to bring you to our life.
Nonetheless, welcome to our family.
I promise i will try to be a good dad (the kind of father in films), not push my ideas on u (that will be difficult for me).I will try and do my very best for you, i accept it may not be good enough for you, but believe me that will be the very best i could have at that point in my life.
And from Me, an advance sorry if i hurt you some time in your life, You see this is the first time im becoming a father, and u r my first time son, this is a new relationship for me too, and im learning with you. so Sorry dude..
Im sure Kavi will be a great mom, she is better at these things than me, Me, Im still learning.
Actually the name up there has been inserted after a lot of scouting and analyses, numerology shastras and what not, but i think Dhanvee is a great name, It has DH from which ur name is supposed to start, AN from my name and Vee for Kavee, cool huh.. and we share the same life numbers 4.
I read somewhere that being a parent is 75% of the time making things up as we go along, but i promise, i will try to be as truthful to you as parently possible.
today im extremely sensitized to the fact that im already 30 yrs old (31 actually) i have a Kid who, I will have to bring up as a responsible person, give good education, teach good manners, help you to select a good career.
Whatever i may say later, i want you to have a career what u like, something that makes you happy, something that you will take up not because your friends are doing it, not because ur grandparents want u to do it, not because ur crazy parents want you to do it, God forbid because it will keep you close to ur girlfriend , but because it makes u happy.
Chikkappa and Venkamma (Shobana) have started shopping for u like crazy, Grandpa cried today, dont tell him i told you.I know grandma will end up waking with you all the nights. U really have a great family u know. The greatest of grand parents, and i silently hope you have inherited ur great grandmothers spirit genes atleast 10% of it.
U look a lot like kavi today but cant say anything it is said that childrens face keep changing till 3 mths and then some resemblance stays.
Today Kavi had to wait 11 hrs before she met you, she was afraid and worried as to why doctors are not giving you to her, but she was in ICU till today afternoon (i was waiting outside her room for almost 6 hrs or so till the doc brought her to the ward), i tried assuring her that u r ok.I think she cried a drop of happy tear when she saw u first time, i have a photograph of that for proof, but let this be our secret.
If sometimes im not able to spend more time with you, then iam sorry, but i may be busy with office work or just a lot of grownup things that you may not understand, i know it is a foolish statement that i cant prove, but i will always love u. NEVER DOUBT IT...
I also promise that whenever i come home from any travels, i will definitely bring something for you, even if it is only chocolates from the aeroplane.
I always bring something for kavi also, but i know that last 2 times i did not bring anything apart from chocolates, there was nothing there that was worth giving her, she is priceless,
Ur mom is crazy, yes thats true, but she also loves you a lot, how do i know this? Just take it from me, its a gut instinct. Dont ever give her trouble.
She keeps saying that she will be a cool mom and all that, but by experience if you give her a lot of trouble then be ready for a tight slap. Kidding dont worry i will not let her hit you... promise...
If you ever need help with your cultural activities at school, then ask kavi, she is the dancer, and if you need any help with English or maths, i will find out where Ramiah Sir and Prema miss give tuitions (ask Kavi who they are).
If i cant find them then i will teach you, please dont ask ur mom for help in these subjects. Science and other languages are my kingdom, i will give you all the help.
Camera Maama (Badri maama) will teach you everything about cameras, phones and photographs, i dont know much about them.

few suggestions, you may not like these,
  1. Play lot of sports, no video games,
  2. Dont ever watch tv, its a waste of time,
  3. believe in love not love marriages like in movies, its all rubbish.
  4. Believe in God, very important, i wont tell u which god or how to pray thats ur personal area, but listen to grandpa (whitefield) till u r 18 yrs, after that i will get u a free pass for this.
  5. study well, its ok if u fail.
  6. fail as many times in as many things as u want, bcos when u succeed nobody will call u a failure, they will only remember your success.
  7. Dont be afraid to be different from others, u r the only one of ur kind, why would you want to change that and be like some film hero or whatever...
  8. keep fit, Please... Health is important.
  9. Be cheerful, dont ever sag, no matter how worse ur situation is, somebody else has it worse, so cheer up, smile, push yourself to smile, an artificial smile is better than a genuine frown.
  10. never miss eating dinner and breakfast at home with family, it is most important, u will realize the importance when u have ur own kids.

I know this is a long letter, but i feel better now that i have told you all these things.I just want u to remember you can tell me anything... any amount of trouble you are in, i promise i will be on your side.

Hav fun with ur life and son, i think I am the only one person who has wished you today, HAPPY BIRTHDAY....

LOVE...
DAD or Papa or Appa (Whatever u choose to call me)

PS: No sex till u r married. had to put this in... Sorry buddy, this rule is not negotiable.

You are already an ideal son, brother and husband. You plan to be an ideal father. God bless you.
It reminds me of Polonius' advice to his son.
Very happy to read the full text.
All the best.
